About
Every part of me is a part of my work.
I am mesmerized by the simplest mark making and the process which brings a fascination with only the mark and the patterns they create. My newer work flows from my persistent observation of balance in the natural world, and my personal fascination with the simplicity of an idea. Seeing balance, rhythm, and pattern, and the opposite of all four, has always drawn me down a path of imagery, whether printmaking, stitching, bookmaking and now drawing. It is my private personal connection to shape, the design within the space and the emotional or intellectual intrigue that grips me through the process that I hope resonates in the drawings. I seek to capture and share the mood, silence and solitude in that extended moment of awareness.
I went to the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and Hampshire College. I have been making art, teaching art, teaching sewing and watching art forever. Portland, Maine has been home for 32yrs, where I also do freelance design work, flower/design work, organic farm work, and works for small local businesses. I have a big family and a big family of friends, whom I cherish.
Every part of me is part of the work.
